Unveiling the Coachholidays.com 2009 Awards!
We at Coachholidays.com have felt that we should say "Thank You" to those operators on our website who have really excelled during the past year. We have spent a long time deliberating over who should get what and those decisions have taken much time and thought. With so many great companies on our website its been an almost impossible task to choose a winner for each category. The Coach Holiday sector of the travel industry continues to offer higher than average levels of satisfaction compared to other types of holidays and remains the most carbon friendly way of taking a holiday, being twice as green as rail travel and up to six times greener than flying. We invite Coach Holiday companies to come onto our website, so all those companies featured on Coachholidays.com already meet the very high standards we want to offer our loyal customers. In choosing these winners we looked at each part of their product including value for money, customer satisfaction, and for the Coach Fleet Award, customer comfort and safety. So without further ado here are our three awards for 2009. For the 2010 awards we intend to have more categories so that we can broaden the scope of ...

Coach Holidays – Fact or Fiction?
Fiction: Coach holidays are only for old people… In fact, coach holidays cater for all ages. While many may be for older people there are lots of tours for all ages – concerts, theatre trips, sporting events, spa treatments and special interest tours Fiction: Coaches are cramped… In fact, modern coaches have more legroom than most planes and trains. Many coach companies also operate coaches with fewer seats to increase legroom. Fiction: Coaches are slow… In fact, most coach holidays are door-to-door or start near to your home. So unlike for an air holiday, there is no need to drive, park, take a bus, queue for check-in and security, wait for flights (which might be delayed)... and do it all over again at your destination and on your return! Fiction: Coaches clog the roads… In fact a coach carries 40 or more people in the same road space as three cars – it moves people more effectively. Fiction: Coaches use a lot of fuel… In fact, a coach passenger will be travelling at least 200 miles for every gallon. Fiction: Coach holidays involve hours stuck in your seat and can be boring… In fact coach holidays have 'comfort stops' every two or three hours while from a coach, you get the ...
Travel by Coach
Setting the wheels in motion Coach travel has changed in recent years. Hi-tech, comfortable vehicles serve an unparalleled range of destinations, carrying people from every sector of society - from corporate travellers, Premiership footballers and overseas tourists, to school parties and OAP groups. They travel to a huge range of destinations from traditional tourist centres, seaside resorts and stately homes to industrial heritage sites and shopping centres all of which benefit the local economy. Coaches also promote social inclusion by transporting people who would otherwise find it difficult to access other forms of public transport. Coach travel is the greenest travel option in the UK today: it is twice as efficient as rail, nearly four times more efficient than the car, and six times more efficient than air travel1. Coach travel has the lowest carbon dioxide emissions per passenger per km of any mode of transport - in terms of emissions, the average coach equates to 20 cars on the road. A valuable tourist attraction Last year there were more than 20,000 coaches on the road in the UK, travelling 1.3 billion km. Nearly seven million people went on holiday by coach last year, generating £1.15 billion revenue across the regions2. In addition, ...
