Hi Mary,
I certainly agree with your comment about the Majestic in Bournemouth it is a superb hotel.
However, the £8.00 per person charged by the drivers for an extra three hour or four hour trip needs to stop. It is very poor value as it usually takes an hour or more to reach the drivers destination. Another hour or more to return and you're only at the place for just over an hour.
Is the company aware these trips are only for the benefit of the drivers not their customers.

hi there jackie, could you help me out big time and tell me whereabouts the coach departs from in poole? we've just booked to go to windermere, but the pick-up point comes up with 2 different areas...one being the bus station, and another stating serpentine road - around the corner from the bus station, nearer the train station. Would be so grateful if you could tell us where you got picked up from. Thankyou!

Hythe Pick up Point

Having stopped the pick-up pont from Dover docks WAShearings now use Hythe. What a disaster no covered walk from the coaches to the tin shed where insufficinet seating is provided. Your cases sit in the wet whilst they are transfered to the feeder coach. A cold miserable experience for going on holiday. Well done WAShearings and I bet your manging Director will not be using this very poor facility!

we had a holiday in the majestic hotel eastbourne on the 4 jan 2010.we know it was really bad weatherbut we had no haeting for one full day and no hot water for 3 days the food and staff were really good but the hotel has a really tired air about it holes in funny places and the decor well thats another story. we had a full trip cancelled due to bad weather fair enough but nothing was put on to help pass the day on as there were lots of people who couldnt go out and were stuck in the whole day.we think there should be contingency plans for such occasions.we certainly wont be going there again.

On a 5 day holiday,I dont mind paying £20 extra for a room with a sea-view, but to charge the same again for each person occupying the room is too much.

I've never had any trouble with Shearings, although not travelled with them for a few years. Reading through these comments, well they'll always be hotels, especially abroad, where the standard isn't great, and as they won't be owned by Shearings, then a lot of these hotels, smarten up the appearence for inspection, then go back to their lower standard once inspection done.

As for the people who went to IOW from Poole................WHY??? If you can see it from your house, then why pay a lot of money through Shearings, when you could make your own way there and get there so much quicker? Seems logical to me.

It will be interesting to see if the name change makes much difference - pretty minor change. Hopefully will not alienate their existing customers in anyway.

My Husband and I booked to go to the Royal Esplanade in Ryde, Isle of Wight the week before Christmas. Living in Poole Dorset we thought it wasn't far to go as we can see the IOW from home. It took us 8 1/2 hours to get there as they first take you to London Gateway then down to Portsmouth a total of 215 miles. It is 56 miles from Poole to Portsmouth. The return journey was going to be approx 10 hours. People returning to Yorkshire had less travelling time of 8 hours. Shearings seem to beleive that people enjoy the coach journey, well people I've spoken to only enjoy what is necessary not the extra miles added on for no good reason.
