Shearings Holidays Expands Fleet

Shearings has ordered a further 45 coaches from manufacturer Setra for a total of £10m.

The order will bring the  number of Setra vehicles in the Shearings Group to 135 – making it the UK’s largest fleet and just over half of Shearings’ total fleet.

Announcing the deal, Shearings chief executive Denis Wormwell, said: “Since we began investing in new Setra coaches in 2009 our customer satisfaction levels have been exceptional.

“Setra are renowned for their quality, reliability and green credentials, making them the perfect partner to enable us to provide enjoyable travel experiences for our customers as we continue to expand our coach offering into 2011.

“What’s more, the introduction of Setra coaches to our fleet has reduced our passengers’ carbon footprint significantly, thanks to the improved fuel economy of their coaches.”

The announcement follows the delivery of 45 coaches in April this year and 45 coaches in 2009.

The order, due for delivery in April 2011, will feature ten Grand Tourer 416 GTHDs with 48 seats and twenty 416 GTHDs with 52 seats for Shearings Holidays, plus fifteen 415 GTHDs with 48 seats for National Holidays.

My Husband collects corgi buses/coaches. Whilst on holiday last year the hotel in the Isle of White had a brown grand tourer coach, but unfortunately by the time we came to purchase it they were sold out. We tried to purchase one at the interjunction but all they had was the blue ones, which he alredy has. I have asked Corgi if they have any but this seems to be out of stock. I wondered if you had any in your stock that I could purchase as a surprise for him.
    Many thanks

Re Corgi Coach model (Grand Tourer) Brown. I have tried unsucssefully to obtain one of these models. My husband is an avid bus/coach model collector. Whilst on holiday in the Isle of White last year they were selling these models, but only had 2 left but when it was our turn they had sold out. I have contacted corgi but they don’t have any in stock. Please could you look into your collections and see if I could purchase one for my husbands birthday present.
    Many thanks

My problem with coach trips is that I am tall and I look for coaches which have extra leg room, hence I am only interested in the Grand Tourers. Unfortunately, these coaches are rarely available in the U.K.. It would help if the advertised trips indicated whether or not the journey had Grand Tourers ot bettere still if the advertisement had a list of Grand Tourers coaches.
