It’s spring, so why not visit Holland and discover millions of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and more other colourful flowers. Now is the time go and visit the Dutch Bulbfields and Keukenhof.
Go for a walk or even hire a bicycle; these are just two of the many ways to discover the amazing Bulbfields of Holland. The main bulb area is located behind the dunes between Haarlem and Leiden.
The Bulbfields are in bloom during the end of March until the second week of May. The best time to visit is hard to say, because it depends on the weather. However, the crocus season starts at the end of March. From the beginning of April, the daffodils and the small tulips begin to bloom and offer spectacular picturesque views for you to take in. The hyacinths bloom from mid-april and the tulips will show of their colour from Mid-April until the first week in May.
Another way to see millions of flowers is by visiting the Keukenhof. It’s the world’s largest flower garden. The Keukenhof is situated in Lisse between Amsterdam and The Hague. The beautiful gardens will be open from the 24th of March until the 20th of May.
There are more then seven million bulbs planted by hand and the area covers about 4.5 million tulips in 100 varieties. You could discover seven Inspirational Gardens. It has some beautiful sculptures; an indoor flower show and much more. No wonder it’s won prizes as one of Europe’s most valued attraction.
That’s not all along with the Bulbfields and the wonderful Keukenhof Gardens on the 16th of April, a famous flower parade called the ‘Bloemencorso Bollenstreek’ takes to the streets of Holland. Cars, floats and buses decorated with colourful flowers travel between Noordwijk and Haarlem.
From April to September you could see some other spectacular flower parades in Holland. Examples includes: the Westland Floating Flower Parade, the Belt-Schutsloot Floating Flower Parade and the Rijnsburg Flower Parade.
