Blackpools new tourist attractions and spectacular Illuminations!

Blackpool Illuminations are taking place from the 2nd September – 6th November; you will be able to see 10 kilometres of Blackpool’s seafront lit up using over one million bulbs, an awesome spectacular not to be missed. This year the Blackpool Illuminations will be switched on by Keith Lemon.

The Illuminations consist of lasers, neon, search lights, light bulbs, and fibre optics and flood lights. You will see almost every kind of light display imaginable. Every year there are objects and characters that reappear made from wood that are studded with lots of light bulbs that can be seen moving – however it is just the perception of twinkling lights. Blackpool also host 3D illuminated scenes that are also exciting and prove popular to be seen each year. The seafront road features and buildings are also linked with colourful lights that make specific structures and landmarks easily seen covered in luminous detail.

Did you know that the illuminations cost £2.4 million to stage and the equipment alone is worth a further £10 million! The Illuminations attract around 3.5 million visitors for the 66 nights that the illuminations shine whilst they spend on average £275 Million to local businesses. Over 200 miles of cable and wiring is used for the display, more than 5000 floodlights and spotlights, over 500 scenic designs and features and much more all waiting to be seen by you!

Along with the fabulous Blackpool Illuminations Blackpool will be seeing the re-launch of its most iconic seaside attraction on September 1st – just a day before the illuminations take place. You can now see the exciting Blackpool in 4D with sights, sounds, smells and special effects before going up to the towers new observation deck, The Blackpool Tower Eye where you will be able to see spectacular coastal and panoramic views as well as experiencing the breathtaking SkyWalk!

Its not only the top of Blackpool tower that has had a makeover so has its dungeon! Blackpool Tower Dungeon will give you the opportunity to learn about Blackpool’s most horrible history with live actors, a thrilling ride and special effects this is not an attraction for the faint hearted!

So with Blackpool’s Tower re opening with exciting new attractions and the illuminations all taking place at the same time there is no better time to visit to see all that Blackpool can offer!
