This could be Britain’s finest hour. Hosting the London 2012 Olympic games and the Queens Diamond Jubilee, it is set to be a very exciting and vibrant summer. People will travel to Britain from far and wide – all across the world, to join in the celebrations. So with all these tourists coming here for their summer vacation, does that mean us Brits should go abroad?
British holiday makers are being incentivised to stay at home this year, and celebrate and explore Great Britain. The brand new campaign, lead by VisitEngland, with the support of the tourists boards in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, has been put in place to advertise a discount scheme that will encourage people to stay at home and holiday, whether it be a long weekend, short break or a two-week summer vacation. People are being encouraged to visit a website to access a minimum of 20.12% off of accommodation, eateries, events/attractions and transport. This is the largest domestic tourism campaign ever launched, and will be advertised by a selection of Britain’s finest actors and actresses such as Stephen Fry and Julie Walters, in a television advert due to air on tonight! Blackpool, Skegness, Yorkshire and Liverpool will be showcased as part of the campaign.
The Olympics is such a glorious event, it would be a shame for people who work in London and indeed in the Olympic games vicinity to get stuck in the tourism traffic, and miss out on the Olympic fun and festivities. This campaign also invites people who work in London to enjoy evenings out during the Olympic period.
Our country is beautiful. . .so what are you waiting for?! Get exploring.
