Chatsworth House – Derbyshire
Currently a television series on BBC1, I am thoroughly enjoying the ‘behind the scenes’ documentary of this wonderful historical, family stately house. Having watched part of the series, I get a sense of Chatsworth having a genuinely warm and welcoming atmosphere, from the Dowager Duchess of Devonshire, the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and their staff. The exemplary care and pride dedicated to the inside and outside of the home, contents, gardens and shops is portrayed on the television by the passion the staff have for keeping Chatsworth one of the most interesting places to visit.
Films that have used Chatsworth House include;
Pride and Prejudice, The Duchess, The Wolf Man.
Some of the points of interest at Chatsworth House include;
The interior of the house
The 300 year old Grand water Cascade and Cascade House
The enormous gravity-fed Emperor fountain
A huge maze
Farmyard and adventure playground
The award winning farm shop
Art in the park
The various gardens
I think that although I’m captivated by the magnificence of this building and beautiful surroundings, I really have to be there to fully appreciate it. Chatsworth House is definitely on my list of castles and stately homes to visit in the future, and if you are also interested in experiencing this grand stately home, why not take a coach holiday to the beautiful Peak District and Chatsworth House.
