Saturday the 20th of June 2015 heralded the long awaited 95th Anniversary Open Day at Epsom Coaches always impressive premises situated on Roy Richmond Way on the outskirts of Epsom.
Well Over 4000 people from all parts of the UK came to enjoy the day and in true Epsom Coaches tradition the Open Day had something for everyone. The proceeds from the open day are all donated to charity, in this case The Epsom and Ewell community Fund which is a new charity of which Epsom Coaches were a founding donor, is set up to make donations on application to worthy causes in the borough. The day itself raised just short of £6,000 for the charity.
The collection of both modern and vintage coaches and cars was superb with everything from a 1909 Commer Car right through to the latest 2015 Mercedes Benz Tourismo Coach aptly named after the recent Epsom Derby winner “Golden Horn” ridden by the one and only Frankie Dettori and trained by John Gosden.
I managed to speak to the Managing Director Steve Whiteway who was delighted with the huge turnout of people “As well as raising funds for a very worthwhile Charity, the tremendous Team spirit shown by our staff and support from our suppliers confirms that once again, the “Epsom Spirit” is very much alive and appreciated by those we serve.” I felt that both Roy Richmond and my dear father would perhaps be looking down from heaven with broad smiles on their faces.
I took a number of photo’s on the day which I hope you find interesting.
